As Miss World Ethiopia 2023, I stand not just as a representative of beauty, but as a voice for the remarkable and diverse strengths of Ethiopian women. My journey began in my hometown of Adwa, where witnessing children, especially girls, walk barefoot for miles each day to reach school ignited a flame within me. Their unwavering determination, despite limited resources, spoke volumes about their thirst for knowledge. This became my first mission: advocating for accessible and quality education, ensuring every child, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to fulfill their potential. But education is just one thread in the tapestry of women's experiences. I delved deeper, tackling the hushed topic of menstruation, a taboo that silently burdens young girls. Distributing reusable sanitary pads and educating them about menstrual hygiene wasn't just about providing resources; it was about witnessing a silent transformation on their faces – relief, confidence, and newfound freedom. Breaking the silence and empowering them to manage their health with dignity became another crucial thread woven into my purpose.Ethiopia's strength lies not only in its youth, but also in its unwavering women. High up in the Entoto Mountains, I encountered Sape, a pregnant woman carrying the weight of daily firewood collection on her shoulders. Her unwavering spirit and resilience in the face of hardship moved me deeply. My mission expanded to include highlighting the plight of these "Women of Burden," seeking sustainable solutions and advocating for alleviating their physical and mental strain. Their story became another powerful thread interwoven with my cause. My journey continued further, leading me to the vibrant traditions of the Mursi Tribe. Here, women adorn lip plates as symbols of beauty and cultural identity. Recognizing the immense value in respecting diverse practices, I strive to champion their unique heritage while fostering understanding and acceptance across cultures. Their story became a vibrant thread highlighting the beauty of cultural diversity within Ethiopia's tapestry.Joined at Jul 12, 2026
