Last day in Delhi, India: The visit to the Indian Army Wives Welfare Association has been a powerful reminder of the importance of empowering women and uplifting their voices. This experience fuels my #EthiopianWomenSpeak campaign and my commitment to empowering women back home. Today, we took a step closer to creating a world where every woman's voice is heard. Together, let's continue to raise the voices of women, both in Ethiopia and around the world.
As Miss World Ethiopia and an advocate for empowering women through my campaign, #EthiopianWomenSpeak, I embarked on an incredible journey at the 71st Miss World Festival in India. Arriving in Delhi on February 18, 2024, I was greeted with warmth and open arms, setting the tone for an unforgettable week filled with inspiring experiences and touching moments.
One of the highlights of my last day in Delhi was the visit to the Indian Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) at the prestigious Manekshaw Centre Zorawar Hall. AWWA, an organization dedicated to the welfare of the spouses, children, and dependents of Army personnel, works tirelessly to support and augment the official welfare efforts within the Indian Army. Their focus on the well-being of families, children, and widows of all ranks, including retired personnel, has made a profound impact on countless lives.
Stepping into the AWWA premises, I was immediately struck by the sense of unity and compassion that permeated the hallways. The incredible work being done by AWWA in the fields of social obligations, women's empowerment, and skill building left an indelible impression on my heart. Their commitment to uplifting and supporting the Army community resonated deeply with my campaign's purpose, aligning perfectly with my mission to empower women in Ethiopia and amplify their voices.
Throughout our visit, I had the privilege of meeting courageous women who shared their inspiring stories of resilience and strength. They exemplified the power of unity and the importance of empowering one another. Witnessing the positive impact AWWA has had on the lives of Army families reaffirmed my belief in the transformative power of community-driven initiatives.
