I had the chance to visit Al Rahma orphanage school and meet with the principal; we sat down and engaged in conversation about what this school does for kids and the issues they face.
Al Rahma has Somali orphan students who rely on the school for a living. Unfortunately, this school does not receive a lot of funding, but the principal, who is also the founder, is the one who started this amazing school to be able to educate the kids because education is the only way for those kids to open opportunities for oneself to get out of the circumstance that they are sadly in. The school also provides meals for the students, and I was able to observe how the meals are prepared and what the students eat on a daily basis.
I believe that what the school Al Rahma is doing is amazing, but they need more awareness to be able to get funding to build more classes and support the students in many ways that they still require assistance in.
This is one of the projects I intend to begin with the KAmani organization after my return from Puerto Rico. My goal is to be able to assist the student in achieving all of their life goals by providing them with opportunities that were previously unavailable to them due to their circumstances.
