Miss World Somalia-Khadija Omar met and worked with the National Geographic team as well as Whitley Award conservationist winner, Dr. Abdullahi Ali in a joint effort to save endangered giraffes and wildlife facing extreme drought in Somalia.

Giraffes are an endangered species and the Somali giraffe have been facing many challenges from bush meat, to habitat loss and most importantly climate change. In the horn of Africa, drought has led negative impact to many of the wildlife.

The Somali Project Initiative aims at assisting the giraffes in Somalia and other endangered species like the Hirola antelope, by fundraising to set up water pans and feeding stations during extreme dry and drought stricken periods.

Dr. Abdullahi Ali has been recognized for his continuous effort of saving endangered wildlife such as the hirola antelope and now the giraffe from Somalia.
