The gold fabric, reminiscent of repurposed curtains gifted by slave masters, is a testament to their resilience and resourcefulness in designing their dresses. Adorned with shells, my dress showcases the creativity of these women who would embellish their attire with shells and other beautiful items they found.
My cultural costume is more than just a garment. It is a tribute to the Creole traditional outfits of the Victorian era, adapted with their unique flair.
