I am beyond proud to say that I am a Welsh Blood Service Ambassador! After receiving two blood transfusions following my car accident I had high hopes that once I left the hospital and recovered I would donate blood as often as possible. I was very disheartened to discover that once you have received a blood transfusion, you can no longer donate blood. This made me even more eager to spread the word and encourage more people to sign up and donate blood. This is something I discussed with Julia Morley, Steven Morley and Karolina when they visited me in hospital and I am beyond proud that my dream to encourage and inspire others to donate has finally come to fruition.

I was lying in hospital doing research on blood donations when I also discovered that there is a lack of representation on the blood donor registry for people of Black, Asian and Ethnic minority backgrounds. This wasn’t something that shocked me, but certainly something that I wanted to change!

Here is my personal story of how I found myself needing two blood transfusions at the age of 21 and why I am so passionate to inspire others to sign up and donate blood. Just one blood donation can save up to four lives! This is certainly the best gift you could ever give someone and if you sign up to donate, your selfless act could help someone like myself.
