With only three weeks until the Miss World final on March 16th, Miss World Venezuela Alejandra Conde remembers her participation at the Head to Head Challenge which led her to become a Top 30 finalist.
It’s hard to believe that in only three weeks the name VENEZUELA will be heard on the Miss World stage. My excitement grows by the minute and I’m hard at work preparing for what I hope will be an amazing night. Part of this preparation has been sharpening my answers for the final question. When speaking of my country and my social projects as Miss Venezuela World I tend to get really excited because I believe that a woman must always speak from the heart. But I also know that we have at most one minute to give an answer so I’m working closely with my English professors here in Caracas in short passionate answers that can transmit everything I feel in my heart.
I spoke with this same passion during my Head to Head Challenge which I would like to revisit today with you. For me, that was the most exciting challenge at Miss World because it gave me the chance of expressing the pride I felt in working with the community of Rio Blanco II in my home state Aragua. Visiting the Capitol in Puerto Rico was definitely the highlight of my stay and standing up in front of the microphone made me very nervous (it was very cold in the room!) but it also gave me the chance to tell the story of the people of Rio Blanco, Venezuela to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Finding out that the judges considered my work in Río Blanco inspiring enough to give Venezuela a place in the Top 30 Miss World finalists was the confirmation of what I said in my speech: “What I learned from Miss Worlds Beauty with a Purpose is that a crown has no value without a purpose”. I couldn’t have been happier when they called my name and I felt proud not only for my work but for the people who took part in the reconstruction of the civic center, the children of Rïo Blanco and especially Venezuela who got a chance to see that when we do everything we can to make this world a better one, the world always changes.
