Yes, the human-tiger relationship was on the decline. To put them in context, since the 1970s, India intensified its conservation efforts. National parks and tiger reserves were created, reintroduction programs were implemented, and legal measures against poaching and trade in tiger products were strengthened. These initiatives, backed by the commitment of conservationists and local communities, yielded astounding results.
Today, we celebrate that India is home to 53 tiger reserves and its tiger population has surpassed 3,900 individuals, a remarkable increase from 1,800 in 2008. This success in tiger conservation reflects the power of human collaboration and determination in protecting wildlife.
