Your self-esteem may not depend on your body measurements or your physical features, but on your mind's perspective and the messages you send to it. That is why, based on my personal experience, I share with you some symptoms to recognize if you are suffering from some kind of eating disorder.
I believe that beauty does not reside only in what is seen or in what is usually standardized. To pigeonhole ourselves in that way would be to deny the beautiful diversity to which we human beings belong. I also believe that beauty is not based on our measurements, weight or physical features, but on the value that our attitude, aptitude, empathy and human qualities bring.
Today I want to dedicate some words to you that go hand in hand with the story of my life. In one of my first articles I opened the doors of my heart to share with you an event that transformed the course of my days, thanks to the decision I made to fight against eating disorders. These pathologies involve serious problems about the perception we have of food, as they are conditions that go against mental health.
I share in this space some symptoms to recognize if you are suffering from some kind of eating disorder:
- You frequently have negative thoughts or make negative comments about your body image.
- You gain or lose weight unjustifiably in recent months, having the feeling that food controls your life.
- You worry obsessively about the caloric composition of food.
- Avoiding dinner becomes part of your routine.
- Your mood changes frequently and to extreme levels; you go from irritability to frequent crying.
If you find that some of these symptoms have become part of you, don't be afraid to talk to the people you trust the most and seek professional help. Attending therapy is the first step to say "yes" to a process that will begin to transform your mind to bring you great rewards.
Remember that your self-esteem may not depend on your body measurements but on your mind's perspective and the messages you send to your mind.
