Brilliant Lives, the Miss Venezuela World project of Beauty with a porpuse has established itself as one of the pioneering psycho-educational programs in emotional wellbeing in the classroom. Committed to the global urgency to make education more inclusive and equitable for children
As a psychologist and during my reign as Miss Venezuela World, I have seen how education is the catalyst for healthier, more sustainable and peaceful lives. Despite progress towards the UN's 2030 education goals, challenges such as poor learning outcomes and high dropout rates persist, especially in poor areas. This points to the urgent need for a global commitment to inclusive and equitable education for all.
To close these gaps, it is essential to provide children in vulnerable situations with equal access to education. This means designing and implementing programs that give students the tools they need to succeed. For more than 5 years, I have been an advocate for teacher training in social-emotional learning, convinced that it sets the foundation for effective education.
Through my BWAP "Brilliant Lives" program, I have seen how teachers, with the proper training, provide social-emotional tools to their students, preventing school dropout and boosting educational success. There are so many challenges in the world right now that it's hard to focus on just one, but I feel that I've discovered the point where many of these issues converge: the awareness of being. Changing the world starts with changing the way we participate in it. Emotions drive us and managing them is key to both individual and collective success.
I firmly believe that with greater emotional intelligence we can reduce psychological disorders, violence, school dropouts, suicides, poverty and substance abuse. I believe that if we educate with awareness and conviction, the hearts of the world grow stronger, smiles become bigger, and lives become more brilliant.
Ariagny Daboín, Miss Venezuela World.
