Women using movement as a form of power

As I, Hannah Karema, reflect on my journey from Nakaseke to the global stage of Miss World, I am compelled to share the profound impact that sports can have on women's health, wellbeing, and education as it has on my life. Through my experiences, I have witnessed the transformative power of athletics in breaking barriers and aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to further girl education.

Sports, beyond the physical benefits, play a pivotal role in enhancing women's mental health and overall wellbeing. Engaging in physical activities fosters confidence, resilience, and a positive self-image. It teaches us the importance of teamwork, leadership, and discipline – skills that extend far beyond the playing field.

In the realm of education, sports act as a catalyst for empowerment. Participating in athletics instills a sense of determination and perseverance, qualities that are invaluable in pursuing academic excellence. As I advocate for women-led empowerment and education, I recognize the role sports play in creating well-rounded, confident individuals ready to tackle life's challenges.

Aligning with SDGs, sports become a dynamic tool to further girl education. SDG 4 emphasizes inclusive and quality education for all. By integrating sports into educational programs, we not only promote physical health but also create an environment that nurtures holistic development. This integration aligns seamlessly with SDG 5, focusing on gender equality, as sports break down gender stereotypes and provide equal opportunities for girls to thrive.

Furthermore, SDG 3, centered on good health and wellbeing, finds resonance in the positive impact of sports on women's physical and mental health. Regular physical activity has been linked to reduced risk of diseases, improved mental health, and increased overall wellbeing – all crucial components of leading a fulfilling life.

As I stand on the global platform of Miss World, I am committed to leveraging my influence to advocate for the integration of sports in education. By promoting sports as a tool for empowerment, we can contribute to achieving SDGs and creating a world where every girl has the opportunity to excel in education and life.

Through initiatives that embrace sports, we can cultivate a generation of resilient, educated women who break through societal norms. My journey has taught me that, just like in sports, life's challenges can be overcome with determination, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence. Let us champion sports as a catalyst for change, uniting to create a world where women's health, wellbeing, and education are elevated to new heights.
