For my Beauty with a Purpose Project, The Ripple Effect - I joined forces with Paraolympic and Olympic Swimmers Shanntol Ince and Cherelle Thompson and IchooseSport for our first Learn To Swim Initiative ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ง We hosted students from two community residences - St.Judeโs Girls Community Residence and the Credo Foundation for Justice Community Residence teaching water safety skills and swimming basics. Swimming is more than just a sport - itโs also a life-saving skill. The reality is, we often hear heartbreaking stories and alarming statistics that many people in Trinidad and Tobago donโt know how to swim. Together we can reduce these numbers and it was a special feeling to see the Learn To Swim initiative come to life as part of my Beauty with a Purpose project, The Ripple Effect ๐ซถ๐ผ๐ฑ This program was about so much more than teaching water safetyโit was about conquering fears, building confidence, and creating a safe space for connection. On the first day, many of the children were afraid to step into the water, but by the end of the camp, they were swimming, laughing, and realizing they are capable of overcoming challenges.๐๐โโ๏ธ Hearing one of the children say their favorite part was โspending time togetherโ reminded me that this program was so much more than water safety and sport โ it was about giving these children a space to feel seen, supported and connected. Sometimes the best gift you can give someone is your time. ๐ฐ๏ธ Moments like these are what drive my passion and give me purpose. Together we can make ripples of positive change in our communities. ๐ง๐๐ฑ
