OUR STORIES MATTER!

My home, Trinidad & Tobago is a small Caribbean island nation, rich in oil and gas reserves and home to fun loving people, charged by the energy of the land. It is the home of limbo, calypso and steelpan. And we are a celebration of energy, creativity, cultural diversity and racial harmony.
But minutes from my home, and throughout the country, I have seen girls, living in makeshift houses, with no electricity or plumbing. Some of them have one meal a day, a loaf of bread and a bottle of soft drink being a typical family meal. Some girls have no books or tools to attend school. One girl I met resorted to studying under street lamps, but some girls don't attend school at all.
They have names and personalities, and dreams that may never be fulfilled. My dream is to bring back meaning to theirs, and to inspire what is possible for them.
