FOCUSING ON CHILDREN'S BASIC RIGHTS

The Foundation seeks to make a REAL difference by focusing holistically on the fundamental rights of girls, both current and future. These 5 rights are:

SECURITY, HEALTH, NUTRITION, EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT

To make a difference in each of these 5 areas, I divided the work to be done into 3 areas, the first dealing with short-term material needs of the girls, the second dealing with arming the girls with the knowledge and skills needed to foster personal growth, and the third aiming at targeting more serious, long-term needs of the girls or their communities.

Over the 2 year period the work conducted was threefold in nature:

1. GIVE ACCESS TO CURRENT MATERIAL NEEDS 

• food & water

• clothing

• books

• other supplies

• sanitary napkins, medical supplies & attention

• shelter (building/ renovating homes)

via charitable initiatives: raising funds, donations and aid from government and corporate T&T, collection drives .

2. BUILD A CULTURE OF CAPABILITY 

our EmpowHER TT Programme aimed at fostering empowerment, self preservation & self-sufficiency/ arming with practical knowledge & skills in communities nationwide, with bespoke, branded workshops -

• FIGHT THE FEAR Self Defense Workshop

• HEALTH FOR LIFE Girls' Health Workshop

• PLANT A DREAM Educational Goals, Career Planning & Life Mapping Workshop

• AGROGIRLS Agricultural & Cooking Workshop

3. CREATE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS for specific areas of critical need within targeted communities.

As we travelled throughout the country, in each town or village there was so much work to do. And each child I met was unique with her own unique needs. Whether there was child or children lacking certain critical essentials, or where it was evident that the entire town could benefit from a specific endeavor or undertaking, was always identifiable. And whenever I reached out to corporate citizens in these areas, my ideas and requests were always met with great acceptance.

Together we were able to create long term solutions to assist the children and the communities of each area we visited.
