Enjoying authentic Puerto Rican food was a highlight of my trip. From arroz con gandules, to sofrito to tostones, each day there was something new and tasty to experience.

But for me nothing compares to arrow con pina y pollo at Richie's Cafe in Rio Grande. The memory of it remains vivid ...

A stupendous aroma drifted through the air.

And when it came to the table, the mystery was delectably revealed. It was made of juicy chicken morsels, mixed with delicately herbed rice, and laden with chunks of pineapple, the whole thing seasoned to perfection, invitingly encased by a hollow pineapple. It was rich and tender. It was sublime. And I ate all of it!!
