I’m extremely honoured to use my voice and platform to represent my first people heritage. The first people of T&T (known as the Isle of Kairi back then) were the first people to inhabit our beautiful islands, Trinidad & Tobago. It was an honour to perform the ballad “Kairi Sanctus” along with the talented Trevon Jugmohan for Satnarine Balkaransingh and Lal Balkaransingh’s launch of their poetry book: The Wanderers❤️ Kairi Sanctus is a beautifully written piece which speaks of the first peoples of T&T/Kairi and it would be an injustice to summarise the beauty contained within the pieces in this book. “Kairi Sanctus” reflects the truth, the history, the sanctity of the beliefs and culture of the first people of our islands. May their voices be echoed in the stories passed generation to generation. I had the opportunity to connect with Chief Ricardo Bharath Hernandez, from the Santa Rosa First People community. We have so much history on our beautiful islands which should always be honoured and I would love to be able to do that as much as I can. Proceeds from this beautiful book go towards supporting the first people community here in T&T
