It’s official!! I’m now a Youth Mental health first aider thanks to the Mental Health first aid training & ‘me time’ workshop facilitated by the incredibly inspiring Dr Astril Webb from Healthy Kinder. This certificate means so much more than just a qualification to me. For those who don’t know my story, I struggled with severe depression and anxiety as a teenager for 6 years. I’ve seen and experienced the struggle, the pain, the ugliness and the stigma first-hand. Today at 24 years old, I am happy, healthy and now qualified to help others overcome. I’m ready to use all this new information to continue my Beauty With a Purpose project to ensure no one suffers in silence. We all go through struggles in life but it’s what we do about it that counts. I’m so proud to say that I trained alongside so many devoted teachers and educators who also want to support the young ones. Teachers are the true heroes our society needs and I can say that T&T is taking the steps in the right direction to be the change that we need in the world today. We are making mental health a priority and it is my honour to be part of that movement. I’ve also successfully completed the first aid training course to become a mental health first aider for adults battling with mental health challenges and substance abuse.
