The Elephant Plains of Sri Lanka
This picture depicts an elephant calf drinking milk from its Mother who stares straight back into the camera lens. The ethereal shot was taken back in 2012 while visiting Minneriya national park, a famous park where 200 elephants gather frequently in the plains of the vast land. The elephant possesses great cultural importance to the people in Sri Lanka and to the Buddhist culture, where many traditional holidays native to the country often require elephants to be a part of the process of carrying out blessings.
