Early in January, I was bestowed the honor of being interviewed by Lynn Ngugi, an award winning journalist from Kenya, who commands  a big audience from around the world.

My interview was scheduled for 6 am; implying that I had to be up by 4 am in order to get ready and arrive on time. I was very nervous but at the same time excited. When I arrived at my destination and met Lynn, who was such a wonderful person, we had an amazing bond instance which made that nervous feeling disappear.

The interview began with questions related to my life story, therefore I begun narrating my story from when I was born, my life in the refugee camp, the process of coming to Canada, my journey to Miss World and my future plans. The interview felt like I was just having a one on one conversation with Lynn to the extent that I even forgot it was an interview!

It was an emotional interview, but to be honest, I always get emotional when talking about my story and my journey. I get emotional because I feel like I'm living what young Khadija always dreamed of, not necessarily due to sadness but out of happiness and joy, knowing that there are young girls who are able to get inspired by it.
