Prior to my debut at Miss World, I showed an early affinity for fashion and beauty. At the age of 6, I began experimenting with my mum’s make up, to the annoyance of my dad who eventually accepted that I was just passionate about painting myself (wink-wink), and the older I became, the passion grew deeper.

I begun finding fame in demonstrating online-make up tutorials, part time modeling, and, yes, I did feature in some Canadian magazines, and advertised for several brands. An experience I still relish.

I tried state pageants in North America and Canada, learnt a few things about the industry. While at it, I always saw myself as the first hijabi contestant at Miss World, but did not now how that would come about, however, an email from Miss Somalia requesting for my attention to participate at Miss World 2021 pageant which I almost ignored, “ I am glad I didn’t ignore” became the game changer.

I was announced on Nov. 16th, as the official candidate representing Somalia at Miss World, 4 days shy to the beginning of the Miss World Contest. I can’t begin telling you how emotional and crazy the days leading to the Miss World Journey were.
