In 2018, I applied to the Erasmus+ program and the day I received my Swedish University acceptance letter, I learn later on that day about my godmother’s passing. I never had the opportunity to tell her and she used to encourage me all the time. She was a reference for me and today, she still is my biggest inspiration of resilience. Thus, in Sweden, I decided to cut my hair shoulder length to donate to a young girl fighting cancer and get a wig from it. This act was in memory of my dear godmother and to inspire others to take action. I even received a certification ! What a blessing to be able to be part of the change and give hope ! 

The worldwide fight against cancer is even more significant for me as my grandmother also lost this battle, 3 days after my national election as Miss Portugal. It gave me even more strength to motivate people to take care of themselves and to raise awareness about it. I believe together, we can make a difference !

Since my crowning, I have been actively involved in my community focusing on the local needs, taking action for diverse causes and to raise awareness for the fight against cancer is one of them !
