What an experience!
Today was the Head to Head challenge. Based on video submissions, and a speech had Miss World chosen 25 finalists.
The finalists were announced last night, and they had until today morning to prepare a 3 minute long speeches about a chosen topic.
This speech would then be presented in front of everyone, in no other place than the incredible Bharat Mandapam Summit Room, in New Delhi. This is also where the G20 Summit was held in September, which is incredible to think about.
Hearing the 25 girls speeches was so interesting. They had so many good points, and managed to deliver their massage in a way that was very inspiring.
One of the girls even quoted something Angelina Jolie once said. I don’t know it word for word, but it was something along the fact that there is many other girls out in the world that is just as, or even smarter, prettier and talented the here. But they won’t have the opportunity to live out their full potential because they are in a refugee camp.
This was something they really made me think. I am so fortunate to be born and raised in a country where your only limits are yourself. Unfortunately this is not how it is in many countries around the world.
I strongly believe that in country’s and places with out the resources, economy, leadership and safety as we have in Norway, are their sitting extremely talented, smart, hard working and good hearted people, how wil never get the same opportunity as I have. This, just because they were born in a different part of the world.
This is something I find very sad and heartbreaking. We as a world are missing out on some amazing people who I know would have a tremendous impact on our society and future. But not just that, they are missing out on the love and joy life has to offer, which is not okay.
Before this day, did I have the knowledge but did not understand it. But thank to the speeches have I now a whole new view and understanding of this problem. This shows how important it is to speak up, share information and most importantly to listen.
Thank you so much to the 25 finalist who delivered fantastic speeches, and gave me a better understanding of what we are facing today.
Also, a huge congratulations to the 5 winners. This is well deserved
