Yesterday was a red carpet dinner event with D’monde and Miss World. For this event was I wearing a big white tulle skirt and a pearl top. I personally think this set is amazing, but what is even more amazing is how I ended up with this set.

A few months ago, my mum and I were out thrift shopping. Then at the last store, did I see a huge wedding dress. It was way too big, had stains and I did not like the top. But I loved the skirt, and had an idea.

Because it had stains and was really old, was the price low, so I decided to buy it.

I then contacted a designer who understood my vision. She ended up removing the to top of the dress, making the waist smaller, and adding a hemline.

After the skirt was finished, was it time to wash it. I have hand washed things before, and therefore decided to do it myself. What I did not realize was how long it would take. I spent 6 hours washing it, and then it took about 36 hours to dry.

After a long while was the skirt finally ready for Miss World.

Thinking about how the dress was before and then who it is now, is crazy!

I am so happy with how it turned out. This outfit is both a one of a kind, but also made in a sustainable way which is so important nowadays.

I hope that my thrift redesign will inspire you to also buy something second hand, and maker it to your own unique pice. This way you will make sure no one has the exact same pice, and it is good for the environment. Also, and maybe the most fun part of it, is that you get to be creative and use your mind to create something you want and like.

At least in my case, this was a very fun project and I am so so pleased with the result
