NI HOSPICE
The Northern Ireland Hospice
For my beauty with a purpose project, I have become an ambassador for the Northern Ireland Hospice for both adults and children.
The NO Hospice provides vital symptom management and end of life care which range all the way from pre-natal to post passing support for families. The goal of the NI Hospice is to provide as great a quality of life as they can regardless of the quantity of life left.
I have been lucky enough to visit both Hospice facilities and witness the work first hand that makes this charity such a wonderful cause. Through these visits I have been able to make connections with patients both young and old as well as get involved with staff.
This year I have taken part in several public initiatives to raise funds and awareness such as hosting events like ‘The Big Coffee Break’ and the ‘Hospice Walks Series’. I have also volunteered in their community charity shops and attended ‘Madison’s Ball’- an evening of remembrance and fundraising.
Throughout this journey, raising funds and donating money has been our goal, however, I have learned that the most valuable thing I can offer to any cause is my time. Spending time with patients, staff and volunteers and helping make human connections is just as important to donate. I hope to continue my volunteering with the Northern Ireland Hospice for years to come.
