Thai Prime Minister Welcomes Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata to Join Forces on Women’s Empowerment and Social Impact Projects

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra hosted Opal Suchata Chuangsri, the 72nd Miss World, at Government House on Tuesday, in a historic celebration of Thailand’s first-ever Miss World crown. Opal was joined by Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, and Piyaporn Sankosik (“Mae Pui”), CEO of TPN Global.

The visit was met with a warm and festive reception from government officials, civil servants, and members of the press, all eager to meet and congratulate the newly crowned queen.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister commended Opal for bringing immense pride to the nation and voiced her support for Opal’s “Opal for Her” campaign, a breast cancer awareness initiative. She also expressed interest in future collaborations to advance women’s empowerment and promote national well-being.

Opal and Mae Pui reaffirmed their dedication to supporting Thailand’s cultural diplomacy and the development of soft power, offering encouragement to the Prime Minister.

“We know this is a demanding responsibility,” Opal said. “That’s why we’re here, woman to woman, to support you and offer strength as you continue to serve the country.”

When asked about ongoing tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border, Opal responded with diplomacy:

“As both a Thai citizen and Miss World, I hope all sides can work together to find a peaceful and lasting solution.”

The atmosphere at Government House was celebratory, with flowers, applause, and a sea of cameras capturing the moment Thailand’s queen of beauty stood shoulder-to-shoulder with its head of government.
