Elly Aron Attends Never Walk Alone Fundraising Gala and Backs Ama2000 Initiative.

Miss World Namibia 2026, Elly Aron, attended the Never Walk Alone Fundraising Gala on May 30, lending her support to a charity dedicated to providing shoes to vulnerable children across Namibia.

The gala featured addresses from Her Excellency Lucia Witbooi, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia, and Hon. Gayton McKenzie, South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, highlighting the importance of restoring opportunity to children living in poverty.

Never Walk Alone works to ensure that children who cannot afford footwear receive a brand-new pair of shoes, helping protect them from injury and disease while improving their confidence and ability to attend school safely.

According to the organization, more than 300 million children worldwide are unable to afford shoes. In Sub-Saharan Africa, an estimated 20 million children walk long distances barefoot, often across harsh terrain and in extreme temperatures. In Namibia, several children face these challenges daily, increasing their risk of infection from soil-transmitted diseases and exposing them to social stigma and exclusion.

The charity recently launched its Ama2000 Campaign, which runs from June 1 through August 2, 2026. The initiative aims to encourage 2,000 Namibians to donate N$2,000 each, raising N$4 million to provide shoes for 10,000 barefoot children across four regions of the country.

To encourage participation, donors will be entered into a prize draw featuring a grand prize of N$50,000, along with smartphones, holiday vouchers, and shopping vouchers.

Sharing her experience on social media, Aron stated:

“Honored to have attended the Gala Dinner, an evening dedicated to ensuring that more Namibian children can walk confidently into their futures with dignity and opportunity.

I am proud to support initiatives that remind us that even the simplest acts of kindness, like a new pair of shoes, can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life. Congratulations on the continued impact of this beautiful mission and the launch of the #ama2000 campaign.”

Aron will compete at the 75th Anniversary Edition of Miss World, which will be held in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, 2026, bringing together national ambassadors from around the world in a month-long celebration of culture, purpose, and international understanding.
