Miss World Italy Sofia Viola has partnered with the Cave Canem ETS Foundation to raise awareness about illegal dog fighting and animal welfare through a recent social media campaign.

In her post, Sofia explained that she chose to become an ambassador for the foundation because she wanted to promote “the true meaning of beauty.” She highlighted the story of Goccia, a dog rescued after suffering abuse linked to illegal dog fighting, describing her as “proof that even wounds can become a testimony.”

Sofia said the campaign aimed to show a form of beauty “that goes beyond appearances,” emphasizing compassion, healing, and second chances. She added that true beauty is found in authenticity and in “the courage of scars.”

The Cave Canem ETS Foundation, established in 2019, works to improve the lives of animals and people through education, collaboration, and animal welfare initiatives. One of its key projects, “Io Non Combatto” (“I Don’t Fight”), was created in partnership with Humane Society International to combat clandestine dog fighting through awareness campaigns, training, and rescue operations.

According to the foundation, several dogs previously used in fighting rings have already been rescued and placed under their protection as part of the initiative.

In May of 2027, Sofia will be in Tanzania representing Italy at the 74th edition of Miss World.
