Miss World Italy at the upcoming 73rd Miss World Festival was honored at one of Calabria’s most cherished cultural celebrations

Miss World Italy at the upcoming 73rd Miss World Festival, Lucrezia Mangilli, was appointed Godmother of the 42nd edition of the Carnival of the Piana in Palmi, taking part in the grand final parade held on February 22.

“It was a great honor for me to be part of such an important and meaningful event, a true heritage of our community,” Mangilli shared. During the celebrations, she received an honorary plaque from the Pro Loco of Palmi and the Palmi Association, and presented the award to the winning allegorical float.

The Carnival of the Piana represents unity, identity, and tradition in the region. “This celebration represents the union of the community and a way to pass on identity, traditions, and culture to new generations. It is a collective symbol, and I am grateful to have been part of it,” she added.

As part of the broader cultural program, Palmi will also host a regional selection of Miss World Calabria during the “Suoni e Radici” Festival. Candidates will wear traditional identity costumes created by designer Luigia Granata, highlighting beauty, tradition, and the rich cultural heritage of Calabria.

Rocco Deodato, President of the Pro Loco of Palmi, emphasized that the collaboration reflects the desire to combine major national brands with local traditions.

Andrea Cogliandro, exclusive Miss World license holder for Calabria, also expressed satisfaction with the partnership, noting that bringing Miss World Italy into such deeply rooted cultural events strengthens the connection between tradition and contemporary representation.
