Ignácia Fernandez embraces fitness as she prepares for the Miss World Sports Challenge

In the early 2000s, Julia Morley CBE reshaped the Miss World Festival, transforming it into a truly original and purpose-driven global event. Among the innovations introduced during this period was the Sports Challenge, one of Miss World’s most dynamic fast-track competitions.

More than securing a place in the Top 40 for its winner, the Sports Challenge promotes unity, teamwork, and mutual encouragement among contestants. Delegates first compete as continental teams, cheering one another on, before showcasing their individual performance. The experience often strengthens bonds among participants, regardless of the final result, while reinforcing the importance of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

The challenge also offers contestants exposure to sports that are especially popular in different regions of the world. In recent editions held in India, participants engaged in disciplines such as badminton and cricket, broadening their cultural and athletic experiences.

With this in mind, Miss World Chile, Ignácia Fernandez, has been actively preparing for the competition.

“I love that Miss World includes a sports competition, and I am truly looking forward to it. I exercise daily, and it helps keep my mind focused while giving me strength and creativity, which I use in other areas of my preparation,” she shared.

As anticipation builds, the Miss World community now awaits the official announcement of the host country and dates for the 75th Miss World Festival, a celebration where sports, friendship, teamwork, and global unity will once again take center stage.
