The Miss and Mr World Philippines Organizations and Miss World Asia, Krishnah Gravidez, are calling for international help following the severe impact of Typhoons Uwan and Tino, which struck the Philippines within two weeks.

On November 2, Tropical Cyclone Kalmaegi (locally known as Tino) rapidly intensified into a typhoon, resulting in major flooding across the Visayas region. More than 210 deaths and 100 missing persons have been reported.

Shortly afterwards, Super Typhoon Fung-Wong (local name Uwan) made landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora, with winds reaching 185 km/h, affecting 13 of the country’s 18 regions. Authorities confirm 6 fatalities and 21 missing people, although more than 1.5 million individuals were safely evacuated due to warnings.

Since late September, the Philippines has faced a series of natural disasters, including multiple typhoons and earthquakes, placing immense pressure on response teams and humanitarian agencies.

Krishnah Gravidez Calls for Global Assistance

Miss World Asia Krishnah Gravidez shared a statement urging solidarity and compassionate action:

“Our beloved Philippines has been tested once again by horrible disasters… Typhoons Uwan and Tino have left thousands of families displaced, homes destroyed, and dreams interrupted. Yet, even in the midst of loss, we’ve seen how the Filipino spirit never falters… Every act of compassion, no matter how small, brings hope to those who’ve lost almost everything… Let us stand for justice, accountability, and a future where no community is left behind.”

She continues to assist by sharing verified donation drives and coordinating help for overseas supporters who wish to contribute.

The national organization has also organized a relief campaign to assist families, particularly in Cebu, which was hit by consecutive disasters: an earthquake followed by a typhoon.

“Many families have lost their homes and need immediate assistance. We are collecting donations, including used clothes, packed noodles, easy-open canned goods, and hygiene kits… Every small act of kindness counts.”

Miss World Titleholders Continue Using Their Platforms for Relief Efforts

In their public statement, the Miss World Philippines Organization emphasized the importance of humanitarian work, noting that many Miss World titleholders around the world actively raise awareness, support disaster preparedness, and help lead rebuilding efforts in their countries.
