Today, Miss World Opal Suchata and Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley CBE paid a special visit to the historic Royal Elephant Kraal Village in Ayutthaya, Thailand, a revered sanctuary dedicated to the care of orphaned and rescued elephants.

The visit formed part of the Miss World’s commitment to understanding and uplifting purpose-driven causes around the globe. The Royal Elephant Kraal, rooted in Thailand’s royal and cultural heritage, now serves as a haven for elephants in need, relying on donations to sustain its vital work in conservation and animal welfare.

During the visit, Julia Morley praised the incredible work being done by the sanctuary’s caretakers and pledged a donation of $20,000 USD to support the wellbeing of the elephants under their protection. The place has existed for the last 30 years, housing elephants that have been rescued from logging, street begging, and circuses, providing them with a safer, more dignified life.

“It was a joyful and deeply meaningful experience, filled with warmth, connection, and cultural pride,” said Opal Suchata, Miss World 2025, who led the delegation.

“I’m sincerely grateful to Mrs. Julia Morley for her generous donation in support of the care and wellbeing of stray and rescued elephants. Her compassion and unwavering commitment light the path for my own mission, to give back to the world with purpose, heart, and hope.”

The elephants at the Kraal Village, many of whom are orphans, are lovingly cared for by a devoted team. The sanctuary not only ensures their physical health but also preserves Thailand’s ancient elephant traditions, respecting the deep bond between mahouts and their animals.

This visit reaffirms Miss World’s global vision, celebrating purpose through action and supporting local heroes who dedicate their lives to making the world a better place, one cause at a time.

“The work this amazing team does with the elephants is very special, keeping them well fed and healthy — and otherwise they would be left to their luck,” said Julia Morley CBE.

“They are like children who need to be looked after, which is why I am donating $20,000 USD to help them.”
