The reigning Miss Scotland, Eilidh MacDonald, is supporting hospice care throughout Scotland as part of her Beauty With a Purpose initiative, working with organizations that provide specialist palliative care and support for people living with incurable illnesses.

Last week, Eilidh volunteered at the Kilbryde Hospice Spring Afternoon Tea fundraiser, which raised more than £850 for the hospice. The event brought together local supporters for an afternoon of fundraising, community engagement, and awareness raising.

Eilidh described the event as a special opportunity to hear stories of friendship, support, and lasting memories created through the hospice over the years. She also emphasized the importance of community involvement, noting that every pound raised helps Kilbryde Hospice continue providing essential care and support to local families.

Founded in 2001 by Tony McGuinness and Dr. John Richards, the Kilbryde Hospice Appeal was established to address the shortage of palliative care beds in South Lanarkshire. The hospice, which opened its dedicated facility in 2015, provides specialist care and wellbeing services for patients living with conditions including cancer, COPD, end-stage heart disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Its services also extend to families and loved ones, including bereavement support.

The initiative coincides with World Multiple Sclerosis Day, observed annually on May 30. The hospice supports individuals living with MS, a progressive neurological condition that can affect mobility, balance, muscle function, memory, and concentration.

The cause is particularly significant within the Miss Scotland organization. Miss Scotland 2025 Amy Scott has long supported the MS Society UK through her own Beauty With a Purpose project, inspired by her cousin Rhyiza Croy, who was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis six years ago.

Amy has raised more than £3,000 through charity events and awareness campaigns and continues to volunteer in support of people living with MS. During the Miss World 2025 Beauty With a Purpose UK Tour, Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri joined Amy at Glasgow’s Revive MS Support Centre, where they met patients, participated in activities, and learned more about the challenges faced by those living with the condition.

Through their ongoing work, Eilidh MacDonald and Amy Scott are helping shine a spotlight on hospice care, neurological conditions, and the organizations that provide vital support to patients and families across Scotland.

From August 9 to September 5, it will be Eilidh MacDonald’s turn to represent Scotland at Miss World, as the festival celebrates its 75th anniversary in Vietnam.
