The Miss World Bahamas Organization has officially announced Marechan Burrows as the new Miss World The Bahamas, following a presentation held at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

Burrows will proudly represent The Bahamas at the 73rd edition of the Miss World Festival - the 75th anniversary edition - to be held in Vietnam, August 9th to September 5th.

Her crowning marks the country’s return to the Miss World stage after a four-year absence. The Bahamas last competed in 2021, when Sienna Evans earned a place among the Top 40 quarter-finalists in Puerto Rico.

Burrows will bring to Miss World her BWAP project G.I.F.T. – Giving Inspiration for Tomorrow, focused on creating meaningful moments for children and empowering youth to feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

“I carry with me the hopes, pride, and authentic voices of the nearly 400,000 people who call The Bahamas home. Wherever I go in the world, I go as a reflection of us- our culture, our strength, our resilience, and our spirit.

This journey is also deeply personal. I do this in honor of my father, who passed away three years ago, but whose story, strength, and sacrifices continue to guide me every single day. Everything I am, and everything I hope to become, is rooted in the lessons he left behind”, she shared after being crowned.

The Bahamas debuted at Miss World in 1966, represented by Dorothy Cooper in London. It means that in 2026, The Bahamas celebrate 60 years of participation in Miss World with Burrows’ crowning.
