Former Miss Nepal World and global BWAP winner steps into Parliament, bringing a new generation of leadership to Nepal

A new chapter of leadership unfolds for Anushka Shrestha, as Miss World Nepal and Beauty With a Purpose Winner in 2019 steps into national politics.

Shrestha, who represented Nepal at the 69th Miss World Festival in London in 2019 and finished among the Top 12 finalists, winning both the prestigious Beauty With a Purpose award and the Multimedia Challenge, continues her journey of purpose.

Following Nepal’s recent political developments, Anushka has been elected to the national Parliament through the proportional representation system, representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party.  Her inclusion among newly appointed Members of Parliament reflects a broader shift toward bringing influential public voices into governance.

Besides being crowned Miss Nepal and representing her country at a very high level in Miss World, Shrestha has built a multifaceted career as a businesswoman and advocate, while consistently championing causes aligned with Beauty With a Purpose. Her appointment signals the growing role of young, socially engaged leaders in shaping Nepal’s future.

In a message shared following her appointment, she expressed both gratitude and responsibility:

“Nepal’s need is honest, good, strong governance, safety, justice, dignity, equity and prosperity. Committing to serving with honesty and grit.”

She is aware of the challenges ahead, reinforcing her commitment to integrity and service.

Widely celebrated across social media and the Miss Nepal community, her transition has been described as a natural evolution, from advocacy to action, from voice to policy.

Julia Morley CBE and the Miss World family congratulate Anushka Shrestha on her incredible achievement!
