Miss Uganda at the 71st Miss World Festival, held in Mumbai two years ago, Hannah Karema Tumukunde has officially stepped into a new chapter of leadership, announcing her candidacy for Guild President at Makerere University.

Hannah represented Uganda at the 71st Miss World Festival in India, where she delivered an outstanding performance. She was awarded Beauty With a Purpose Africa, placing her humanitarian work among the 4 most impactful projects in the world, and went on to finish in the Top 8 overall, also securing the position of 1st Runner-up for Miss World Africa.

Now, she brings her voice and vision to student leadership. “History is written by those who stand up,” she shared, calling her candidacy “bigger than a campaign, a movement.”

Makerere University’s Guild Presidency is widely regarded as one of the most influential student leadership roles in Uganda, often serving as a springboard for national leadership. Hannah’s transition from Miss Uganda to campus leadership shows her continued commitment to service, advocacy, and impact.

With a strong background in social initiatives and public engagement, and with all the experience she gained and difference in society she made as Miss Uganda, Hannah has all it takes to succeed. Her candidacy signals a new generation of leadership.
