Miss World Africa and first runner-up Hasset Dereje from Ethiopia has reflected on a year marked by growth, resilience, and deep personal transformation, as she looks back on her journey across both national and international stages.

Describing the past year as one of deep learning and self-discovery, Hasset shared how the experience reshaped her perspective, from representing her country on the global Miss World stage to navigating new chapters in her personal and academic life.

She spoke openly about her achievements, the challenges faced, and the lessons learned along the way, highlighting how the journey allowed her to grow in confidence, purpose, and strength.

“A year of becoming Miss World Ethiopia, Miss World Africa, standing as first runner-up on a world stage, turning 20, changing majors, and stepping into versions of myself I hadn’t met yet. I gained dreams, lost close friends, found a new family, and learned what growth really costs and gives. I am grateful for every lesson, every tear, every victory”, she shared. 

Hasset achieved the highest placement ever for Ethiopia at Miss World, becoming a prominent figure both nationally and across the continent. Through her journey, she has traveled to different countries, expanded her charitable work, and embraced opportunities that continue to shape a bright and impactful future.
