Hey World, Nepal here!

5th December,2020 I vividly remember the chairman of The Hidden Treasure (Miss Nepal organization) announcing " Miss Nepal world 2020 is contestant number 18, Namrata Shrestha. My heart skipped a beat. Why? Because something I had been hearing in my mind for the last 10 years, my ears were experiencing it in real! :) 

How beautiful are dreams! *sighs* a small seed of passion is planted and you go after it with all the doubts, fear in your head but also with all the faith and belief in that seed of passion. 

My dream of wanting to become a Miss Nepal and represent Nepal at MISS WORLD was no less than a fairytale. Despite the place I was born in, the family, neighborhood I was raised in, the resources and opportunities I was provided with, in short despite all odds I was able to claim my dreams. And it was not the end...actually it was the beginning of a journey very special. Growing up admiring Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai, knowing that she was a miss world and wanting to become one (not knowing what it actually meant), a small dream started blooming inside me. When I first saw the crown of miss world in 2011 and moreover learnt about the purpose behind Miss World, the dream became a vision, and there was no looking back. 

Here I am proudly introducing myself as NEPAL, I stand not only as an ambassador to the world but also an advocate for change. The dream of representation might have been just mine initially but now, it is a dream of millions of Nepalese to be heard, to be seen on the WORLD stage. I welcome you to be a part of this beautiful journey of mine and my beautiful country.
