A true cultural immersion experience, where together with the Miss World Organisation we paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most revered figures in modern history.
The journey began at Raj Ghat, the serene memorial site where Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. Surrounded by lush greenery and marked by a simple black marble platform, Raj Ghat serves as a place of quiet reflection and remembrance for millions of visitors each year. As participants we paid our respects to Gandhi's memory by offering flowers and observing a moment of silence at the site.
Afterward, we headed to the nearby Gandhi Smriti, a museum and memorial dedicated to preserving Gandhi's teachings and philosophy. Housed in the historic Birla House, where Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life, the museum offers a comprehensive look at his life, work, and legacy through interactive exhibits, photographs, and artifacts.
Throughout our visit, we learned about Gandhi's principles of nonviolence, truth, and selflessness, which continue to inspire people around the world. Personally, I gained insight into his role in India's struggle for independence and his tireless efforts to promote social justice and equality for all. Mahatma Gandhi has been a real inspiration for me throughout my Beauty with a Purpose project where I am promoting access to education for all. In collaboration with the Malta Trust Foundation, we are helping children and families in risk of poverty and social exclusion due to any disability or other difficulty.
As I departed from Raj Ghat and Gandhi Smriti, I carried with me a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to embodying Gandhi's values in my own life and endeavors. This visit served as a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of one man's dedication to truth, justice, and the greater good, and together with the Miss World Organisation, I look forward to continuing to honor Gandhi's legacy through my ongoing humanitarian work and advocacy efforts.
