With Carnival being one of the oldest historical festivals in Malta, with five centuries of history dating back to the Knight's period, this costume is a celebration of craftsmanship from a little island with artisans working on the preparations for such a beautiful festival all year round. It is a costume that highlights passion and talent.
The costume is not only a showcase of beauty and style but also serves as a representation of Maltese identity and cultural heritage. It is with great pride that I collaborated with designers and artisans from Ghaqda Kultura Armar Maria Annunzjata Tarxien to feature this unique and eye-catching costume to share on the Miss World stage.
All about Malta's Carnival
Malta's Carnival is a vibrant and lively event celebrated throughout the Maltese Islands. The carnival typically takes place in February, just before Lent begins, and it is known for its colorful costumes, lively music, and energetic street parades.
During the carnival, the streets of Malta come alive with music, dancing, and revelry. Visitors can expect to see elaborate floats, street performers, and marching bands parading through the streets, creating a festive atmosphere that is unmatched.
In addition to the street parades, the Malta Carnival also features a variety of other events and activities, including food stalls offering traditional Maltese delicacies, arts and crafts exhibitions, and children's entertainment.
