Dr Lavanya Sivaji, 26, Malaysia

Being a medical graduate from the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) and a beauty queen, I decided to dedicate my time volunteering for medical based programmes in my country before starting my career as a house officer (junior doctor). I chose medicine because it is a noble profession and I wanted to give back to the community through my occupation. Besides my pageant activities, and carrying out my BWAP ; I always focus on volunteering for medical camps & charity clinics because I strongly believe that healthcare services should be available and equal for everyone.
