A collaboration between Miss World Madagascar & Diary Nofy
Miss World Madagascar, Nellie Anjaratiana has joined Diary Nofy’s education missions. She states on social media, “The education of our children, a topic that matters to me!” This charity started the initiative to publish story books entitled Diary Nofy, which translates as The Dreams Diary. The book is composed of five stories by Malagasy writers who won a writing contest organised by the charity. Diary Nofy state,
“Many Malagasy children have never read books. Libraries are almost non-existent in public schools and there are only a few reading sessions dedicated to schools. If story books appear, they are few and most are written in foreign languages. Children's story books, about Malagasy culture, are also rare and the few available books are sold at high prices in bookstores…We plan to print and distribute books, at least to public primary schools throughout Madagascar. This initiative will allow Malagasy children to read stories, stimulate their imagination, improve their creativity, strengthen their language learning capacity and raise awareness of their country's cultural diversity.”
The Diary Nofy fundraising page highlights their survey results that “reading levels among 300 rural children aged 9-15 is 90% below average”

Nellie promotes how to support children’s literacy in her social media post:

Diary Nofy explains to donors “Your contribution is not just going to help us reach the goal… You'll be able to follow Diary Nofy's books journey and feel closely how your role, whatever its size, can have a lasting impact on a child's life. There's magic in the stories!”
