To not only have the support of my family and friends as well as the beautiful family that has joined in on my journey but also the National Government led by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta is such a blessing!We had a conversation about mental health which has been termed as a major public health priority through a research conducted by @moh_kenya with social and economic implications on the country.One of the biggest steps taken by the National government to combat the crisis is the planned transfer of Mathari hospital (which is the main training psychiatric hospital in Kenya with an in-house capacity of 700 patients) to a 200-acre piece of land.Mathari Mental Health Centre of Excellence.The proposed facility is projected to be the cornerstone of national mental health reforms that aims at decentralizing care delivery and improving access to mental health care besides bringing down the cost of treatment and psychiatric services .This is indeed a step that we need as country and I am super excited to be a part of it
