This footage shows National Route 249, also known as the “Scenic Road,” in Suzu City on the Noto Peninsula. It was filmed in January 2025, one year after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. A new road was built on the uplifted coastline caused by the quake, making it passable once again. However, as you can see, the surrounding area—including collapsed cliffs—has been completely transformed. It almost feels like stepping onto another planet. The scene is a powerful reminder of the long road to recovery that still lies ahead.
