On the eve of Buddha Purnima (Buddhapurnima, also known as Vesak, is the most important Buddhist festival celebrating the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Vaisakha) contestants of The 72nd Miss World Festival from Asia and Oceania embarked on a captivating heritage tour to the iconic Buddhavanam at Nagarjunasagar in the Nalgonda district. This significant part of the festival’s itinerary aims to highlight the rich history and diverse cultural heritage of Telangana, offering contestants a deeper connection to the region’s profound spiritual and historical legacy.

The contestants visited Buddhavanam, a renowned Buddhist theme park developed on the northern bank of the Krishna River, spanning 279 acres. This prestigious project, taken up by the Telangana Government as part of an integrated Buddhist Circuit, is designed to showcase the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha. The site features intricately carved structures, including the Mahastupa, known for its breathtaking drum and dome carvings, and a virtual hanging sky with lotus petals, offering a mesmerizing experience.
