Break The Silence journey began in my lovely Hometown, Manado. The city with more than 1 million population located in North Sulawesi Province.
I began this journey here because I always felt that I had responsibility to came here and share some details about awareness of child sexual abuse. I started this journey at St. Theresia School where 300 children from Junior High School and 100 children from Senior High School came to see our presentation to share awareness about the danger of sexual abuse for children.
When I was in there, I was surprised because the student curiosity and how they respond the issue that we share to them. This really shows every children awareness about the issue. They responded with many interesting questions which surprise me. They asked about how to prevent children sexual abuse.
The thing that surprised me is they’re concern about how to prevent sexual abuse if someone from their surroundings or their friends experienced that kind of thing. The most interesting part is their awareness of their friends. They cared about how to prevent this issue together.
It’s making me more passionate to fight for this issue and share with my surroundings and especially the children about this kind of danger.
