BWAP, an incredible initiative by Miss World Being a beauty with a purpose has been the most enriching and defining part of my journey at Femina Miss World India 2020. To connect with a purpose larger than me or my dream has always been my most-cherished mission. For the longest time, it’s been about the purpose, the Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) round was introduced by Julia Morley, Chairperson of Miss World Organization, 50 years ago, and she has since inspired generations of young women to have a purposeful life, by rewarding and recognising the relevance and importance of her choice of charity. Beauty queens have used their title, exposure, and talent to raise funds and propagate awareness on various social concerns and thus, took a step to make the world a better place. India is among the few countries recognised with the honourable award several times, at the finale of Miss World, and I am incredibly grateful to be one among them. In 2014, Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai was felicitated with a lifetime Beauty With A Purpose award for her humanitarian work. I still remember watching that special moment and feeling highly proud and inspired. It was exciting to see my project being recognised on the world stage. And I’m just extremely thankful to the Child Welfare Department, the Hyderabad city police and the Telangana social impact group for walking with me on this journey and really helping me extend my life to create a difference. With my BWAP project 10-9-8, I wish to continue to create awareness about our lesser-known national helpline number 1098 and help empower the system that tirelessly works behind it.
