I’m ready to represent India at the prestigious Miss World pageant, and as you know, my Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) project has taken up the cause of preventing and stopping child sexual abuse through my campaign, 10-9-8. The progress is enroute to ensure that every district in Telangana has a vehicle dedicated to the safe and timely rescue of vulnerable children.

With the help of her 10-9-8, I hope to promote and create awareness about 1098, the Child Helpline number. It being the national hotline for Child Protection, has very low public awareness.

While addressing the concerns faced by the team during rescue missions, I realised that there were barely any vehicles available to make a quick move on receiving an alert. So, I soon began my search for corporate sponsors who could help donate vehicles for this cause, which is very close to my heart.

Whilst speaking with a rescue driver, I learnt some very harsh realities. The driver shared that when a child is rescued and sees that he/she is about to enter a vehicle with men in police uniforms, they’re often intimidated. And this is not how a child should be rescued, they must be welcomed and must be treated with respect and warmth. Most of these cases are very sensitive because we have different communities following different traditions and different beliefs. When we reach the site, we are going against an entire community that is very rigid about their tradition. In such cases, this vehicle will give the team credibility and will also protect them. This vehicle is a real lifesaver, not only for the rescue workers, but also for the child who is going to be rescued. 

I have also been a part of a campaign against child sexual abuse at Bharosa Centre Hyderabad in association with Hyderabad City Police as part of her project 10-9-8 instated to promote the safety and security of children.

I feel very strongly for children, and I would want to do everything under my power to help those who need a hand to hold.
