This case perfectly highlights the importance of the 1098, the national child helpline number. We came across this case while spreading awareness of my BWAP project 10-9-8. This child helpline number impacted and saved the life of a child. The childline team received a call on child helpline number 1098 to report a case of child marriage.

The responders took the caller’s details and rushed to where the marriage was happening. The team, along with me, rescued the child from the spot. Upon talking to her, the child stated that she was forced to marry the bridegroom, but unfortunately, until the team reached the spot, the marriage was already performed. The CWC team was immediately informed about the case, and reintegrating support was given to the child.

This is just one of the many cases that we encountered, and hence the awareness about the 1098 child helpline number is significant so that help can reach on time. Hoping for more and more people to raise awareness and make it a better world for young souls.
