First ever placement

Many people asked what my reaction was when I first learned I placed in the top 40 semi-finalists at Miss World.

It is a little difficult to put words to describe such an incredibly astonishing moment.

This meaningful achievement not only is my first placement in an international pageant as Miss World is my first ever international competition but it also is Guinea’s very first placement at any given grand slam pageant. The sense of pride is indescriptible.

January 21st was a nerve wracking day. It was announced earlier that day that Miss World would officially announce the judges choices to complete the Top 40.

Out of a meeting at the headquarters of the international airport of Guinea, around 4 pm (Guineas’s time), I received one of the best news of my life: Guinea is in the Top 40.

We as a nation were ecstatic. I personally, although extremely happy, proud and grateful, couldn’t help but feel sad that all my Miss World sisters don’t get to return to Puerto Rico. We were so eager to reunite and finish what we started.

Each and every Miss World delegate is an absolutely phenomenal woman.
