Finlands pride: Wife Carrying World Championship in Sonkajärvi
My Journey at the Wife Carrying World Championships

Picture this: a thrilling competition where couples from around the world gather to showcase their strength, teamwork, and determination. This is the Wife Carrying World Championships, an event that pushes the boundaries of athleticism and camaraderie. And in the midst of this exhilarating event, I proudly clinched the silver medal!

The Wife Carrying World Championships is not your typical race. It involves a male competitor carrying a female teammate through a challenging obstacle course. The course tests both physical and mental endurance, with hurdles like water obstacles, sand pits, and even a "widow maker" hurdle. It's an exciting race that demands strategy, communication, and trust. Things we need in our everyday life!
Preparing for the Wife Carrying Championship definitely required some training.
We ended up receiving the silver medal as we got 2nd place. Honestly it was an awesome experience - something you can only experience in Finland!

The Wife Carrying championship has also attracted famous athletes to our humble country just to compete in it. On that note, let me tell you a story: I was an 8-year-old little girl for the first time at the WC championship and met former NBA superstar, Dennis Rodman, who paired up with the reigning Miss Finland back then!
With love from Finland to the World,
Adelaide
